Sales is one of the foundations upon which businesses are built upon; without sales, there is no cashflow and profit to speak of. So, it should not be a surprise that sales data has been well scrutinised and analysed in many businesses. With recent developments in data, technology and algorithms, it has opened many new opportunities in analytics; but it has also presented new challenges to sales performance analysis as well. Technology now allows more sales and customer data to be gathered than ever before; which allows for more and more granular analyses and customer segmentation. On the other hand, with so many variables, which ones matter and which ones don’t?
